Attachment theory in psychology originates from the work of the British psychiatrist John Bowlby. Based on his experience working with children, he suggested the theory explaining how seriously a childhood experience of building close attachments influences the rest of a person's life and relationships with others. Bowlby identified three main types of behavior. Later, other researchers suggested adding a fourth type of behavior.
